Hir by Taylor Mac

Somewhere in the suburbs, a son returns from the service to help take care of his dad, and discovers the family is nothing like he left it. Mom’s on a crusade to fight the patriarchy, dad’s in a wheelchair and wearing makeup, and his newly transgender sibling is caught in the middle of it all. It’s a subversive comedy from Taylor Mac, and it takes its name from a gender neutral pronoun. With wry, cutting dialogue, it’s a perfect staged reading.
